As we reported on April 2, Sheriff Napier denied a legitimate information request from the Pima County commission responsible for reviewing his use of Operation Stonegarden grant funds (CLEPC), and he lied about it by saying the data had not previously been captured. In our previous post we gave documentary evidence of his lies and obfuscations. Last Monday, April 8, they were revealed to the world in a public meeting.
The PCSD captain responsible for fulfilling the commission's request not only corroborated our conclusion that the information was and had been available, he also told the story of how Napier diverted the information request out of regular channels and responded to the CLEPC without bothering to ask his staff for the facts.
Here we present two video excerpts from Monday's CLEPC meeting, edited for length and clarity. (You can also view the entire meeting video on our YouTube channel to verify that these are not edited deceptively.) In the first, Napier reaffirms his claim that the data weren't captured, then PCSD Captain Russell Ponzio reveals the truth in response to questions from CLEPC Chair Kristen Landrum.
In the second video, Captain Ponzio goes on to tell the story of how Napier diverted Landrum's information request.
Mark Napier can't be trusted to run the Sheriff's Office. The Pima County community needs to know. Please share widely.
