Two weeks ago, in Part Kvar of our series on Sheriff Napier's desperate attempts to secure Operation Stonegarden funding, we laid out the case that Napier had not been truthful when he denied certain data had been captured about previous operations under Stonegarden. Those data had been requested by the CLEPC, a commission explicitly appointed by the Board of Supervisors to oversee how Napier's department spends grant money. By denying the data were available, Napier was directly thumbing his nose at the Supervisors. Let's watch and see whether they have the spine to stand up to him.
In last week's CLEPC meeting, Chair Kristen Landrum elicited specific corroboration of our earlier reports, corroboration given by the PCSD officer responsible for fulfilling data requests from the commission. Here is that damning testimony in one compact 39-second segment:
We don't yet know what Mark Napier is trying to hide so desperately that he needs to lie this blatantly and openly.
We do know that the Board and the community can't trust him to administer this grant. The Board must vote to reject.
(Cinci is Romanian for five. This is part five of our series.)
